We are an inclusive school, which reflects the local community and we are proud of how well pupils with different needs respect, achieve and look after each other. Over the years we have welcomed children with a number of disabilities and conditions, as well as numerous learning needs and all have added richly to the tapestry of school life. All pupils have equal rights of entitlement to a broad and rich curriculum, and to the support they needs to allow them to fulfil their potential. All children have the entitlement to participate in the life and work of the school to the best of their abilities, whatever their needs. From September 2019 our SENCO is Miss G Fletcher, supported by our Learning Mentor Mrs H Jackson.
The Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is additional funding received by schools for each pupil from disadvantaged families or background. It is allocated to schools based on the number of children who come from low-income families – this is defined as those who are currently known to be eligible for free school meals.
It also includes:
- pupils who have been eligible for free school meals at any point in the last six years
- children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months
This is one of the current government’s key education policies. It’s based on findings that show that, as a group, children who have been eligible for free school meals at any point in time have consistently lower educational attainment than those who have never been eligible for FSM.
COVID-19 Catch Up Strategy
The government allocated £80 per pupil in the the wake of the 2020 school closure. Our catch up plan is attached as a link below.
