World Book Day!

We are delighted to be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 5th March At Burley St Matthias, our promise is to make reading irresistible for all children so that they develop a lifelong love of reading, books, and authors. World Book Day will be another opportunity to build on this. We have planned activities centred around one key text – Yara’s Gift – A story of courage, kindness and the magic of sharing who we are. Alongside this, children will have opportunities, as always, to explore, read, and share books, as well as take part in other book-related activities, including ‘Mystery Readers’, ‘Guess the Story’, and lots of in-class fun.

Each child will receive a free book token that can be used to choose a new book of their own.  No need to worry about getting to the shops - we will organise this in school, so that each child receives a new book before they run out in the shops! Look out for some golden tickets hidden inside books!

For World Book Day this year, we are getting cosy!  Come to school dressed in your comfiest pyjamas or onesie, or maybe you have some cosy loungewear that you love to chill in!  Teddies are invited too!  Bring a teddy to join in with some fun reading activities, and dress it up as a book character, if you like! We’re very much looking forward to celebrating World Book Day, and we are sure the children will be enthused, as their increased excitement for enjoying books is ignited.

Ian's Farm Visiting Key Stage One - Monday 02 March

We delighted to let you know that we are hosting “Ian’s Mobile Farm” on Monday 02 March!

The children will be able to visit the farm on our key stage two field, be able to pet and feed animals and learn so much about a wide range of animals!  This links in with their learning in class and gives them a great real life experience to help bring their education to life!

We are asking for a voluntary contribution of £2.00 to help top up our fundraising for enrichment experiences and we hope you will support us with that.  Payment can be made in cash at the office or on Arbor.

For more information on the farm please see Ian’s website at Iansfarm.com where you will find photos, feedback and so much more!

Please make sure you fill out the form that will come home with your child or complete the Arbor form so we know if your child has any allergies to animals.

We can’t wait to share our learning with you after the visit!
